Speak Up and Clean Up! Event 2015

This year's Speak Up and Clean Up! was an overall success! We had more members attend than the clean up in November. Sadly I couldn't make it this time but you guys were fine. I must thank the attendees for doing a great job helping to clean our community. They cleaned from 79st to Bay Parkway and also 14th avenue. I am very impressed by the increase in attendance and I hope it keeps on increasing. Lets make Midwood Key Club a stronger force in Division 9!

5/19/15 Meeting Tomorrow!

Welcome back everyone! Hope you all did well on your AP Tests and if you didn't have any, I hope you all had fun with the extra time. Thanks to everyone who attended the past two events, Peanut Day and the AIDS Walk! I know the walk was a lot of work and those who came deserve the biggest  praise. We will be discussing upcoming events, such as the clean-up for Assemblyman Colton. Of course we have to do our annual t-shirt and hoodie designs. Everyone can submit their designs and vote on the facebook page.
As always, see you all at the meeting!

AIDS Walk NYC 2015

Thanks to everyone who came and walked with us! The entire walk was 10 km which is around 6 miles and I was honestly surprised. I expected the walk to be far shorter. It lasted around 3 hours and the heat was intense. We started the walk with other Key Clubs from Division 11 and 9 but later lost them. It was worth walking for a good cause and all the sponsors provided adequate food and drink. The sight of the finish line was like a light at the end of the tunnel. We walked the entire way around Central Park and ended up where we started. Compared to the March of Dimes, the AIDS Walk is far longer but the free food was great.

Once again, thanks to everyone who came and struggled with us and I hope next year we will have more people.

Peanut Day 2015

This year, Peanut Day was an overall success. People said that it was a fun and new experience. Groups were told to go to cars at the red light and ask them to donate to Kiwanis Peanut Day. The donations go to help under-privileged children and drivers were given a pack of peanuts after their donation. Although being rejected by cars wasn't as fun. The pictures don't do it justice, but we had a pretty decent amount of people in attendance.

Thanks to all who came and hopefully we have more next year!
