Hey everyone! Our Lieutenant Governor, Ruoxin Lin,
has decided to host the first divisional of the service year at
Midwood! The October Divisional will be on Wednesday, October 28th from
4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. A divisional is essentially a normal Key Club
meeting but on a much larger scale. It is a meeting led by the LTG with
all the clubs of the division attending. We are in Division 9, which
includes clubs from Brooklyn Tech, Murrow, Dewey, etc.
Any questions can be addressed to me or the other officers! I urge all of you to come thru!!

2015 Fall Rally
The Fall Rally for Divisions 8-13 took place at NYU Global Spiritual Life. Attendees could look forward to 25 different workshops and panels including a Guide to Professionalism and Planning Service Projects. There were also guest speakers like Evan Wesley from the Thirst Project. This event helped boost interest in Key Club and allowed different clubs to interact with each other. Josephine Leung from our club said, "Fall Rally was my favorite Key Club event so far. Everyone was very enthusiastic and welcoming. They were proud to be a part of Key Club and displayed enormous school spirit. In just a few hours, I learned many things about Key Club such as being a dedicated Key Club member and the responsibilities of being an officer. It was a huge event where you were able to better connect with your officers and other members of different clubs, while having fun! There were many different group activities to help you meet other members. This event gave me a different perspective on Key Club. I finally realized the importance of Key Club at this event!" Although we only had 10 people attend, they all were exposed to the impact of Key Club. Next year, I hope to double the attendance at Fall Rally!

October 2015 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
The attendance for this year's Breast Cancer Walk blew me away! Midwood Key Club itself had over 50 members attending the walk at the Prospect Park. The more well known location for the walk is at Central Park but Midwood participates annually in the Prospect Park walk. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common diagnosed in women in the US. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8. From their official site, over 7,000 people participated in the Prospect Park walk and raised over $590,000! A Key Clubber commented with "We moved at a Midwood pace from miles 2-3. I felt like I was walking down Midwood's hallways. People were playing loud music, shuffling with the crowd and having fun. You know the usual. It was hella long. Man, my legs cramped up after that." This walk brought people of all different races and cultural backgrounds together to walk for ONE purpose!
NOTE:THIS IS NOT EVEN EVERYONE!! |

Peanut Day Is This Saturday, 10/17/2015!
Our previous Peanut Day was back in May so I hope everyone is ready to sell more peanuts! For those who don't know, Peanut Day is when you sell peanuts in order to fundraise money for the Kings Plaza Kiwanis Club. Last year volunteers had to wear an orange/red vest and went around with cans to sell peanuts. Passing drivers could choose to donate any amount, even a quarter, to receive a bag of peanuts. This event takes place at the intersection of Gerritsen Avenue and Avenue U from 10 am to 3 pm, so please arrive on time!
